Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Consolidated Cargo Movement Unit of Movcon Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. The incumbent will report to the Movement Control Officer or his/her designate.

Responsibilities
• Receives and registers cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation.
• Receives supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows up from delivery to destination.
• Coordinates transportation of cargo by air and/or road with Air Operations and Transport Sections respectively.
• Ensures proper and safe storage of inbound and outbound cargo.
• Ensures proper packing and marking of cargo items, including dangerous goods.
• Informs appropriate consignees on delivery of items.
• Provides technical advice and guidance to personnel involved in cargo movements.
• Compiles and maintains cargo statistics related to air/ground movements.
• Coordinates work of outsources loaders at the airport.
• Prepares cargo manifest and ensures its distribution to all concerned parties.
• Facilitates embarking/disembarking of passengers at the airport, and loading/unloading of cargo.
• Ensures that loading of the aircraft is conducted in accordance with the published daily schedule and cargo manifest.
• Receives the Aviation Risk management check list from aircrews and informs Air Operations center of safety concerns if any.
• Ensures established procedures are in place and aviation safety regulations are followed.
• Performs other duties as and when required.

Education
  • High school diploma or High school certificate required.

    Job - Specific Qualification
    Diploma/Certificate in administration, transportation or logistics is desirable.

    Certificate in the Movement of Dangerous Goods by any mode of transportation, is desirable

    Work Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Movement Control, Multi-modal transportation, Airline Operations is required.

  • Experience preparing cargo manifests/documentation relating to at least two modes of transportation is required.

  • Knowledge in Electronic Cargo Booking System (e-CBS) is required.

  • Experience driving at the air side/apron is required.

  • Experience working in a UN Peacekeeping mission or International Organization in Movements/Transport/Logistics related operations is desirable.

  • Experience liaising with local authorities and freight forwarders on cargo related matters is desirable.

    Languages
    Fluency in oral and written English is required.

    Assessment
    Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
