Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Engineering Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. The incumbent will report to an Engineer of his/her designate

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Building Management Unit Supervisor of the Juba Field
Engineering Office, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

• Ensure that the UNMISS facilities are maintained as per the laid down procedure.

• Supervise the maintenance / construction works performed by the Individual Contractors (ICs) / contractors.

• Mark & process the daily attendance of ICs and report any discrepancies to Office of Field Engineer.

• Under instructions received from Office of Field Engineer, distribute ICs to the respective projects.

• Make necessary coordination for the Engineering Works with all stakeholders and relative sections.

• Receive Engineering Works Requests (EWRs) from UMOJA iNeed, process approval of Field Engineer and task to engineering staff for their necessary action.

• Demand & receive materials for execution of the works.

• Maintain record of all EWRs under BMU and forward to Field Engineer on weekly basis.

• Provide feedback / status update to field engineer on monthly basis.

• Brief new ICs / contractors on Rules and Regulations related to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

• After completion of work, handover the newly constructed / maintained facility back to Accommodation Management Unit (AMU).

• Carry out painting works of fabricated and hard wall buildings, and operate, clean, and maintain painting equipment.

• Carryout coordination for Engineering Works within all units of Field engineering Section.

• Supervise/ Monitor performance of the service contracts for camp facilities maintenance's.

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor and Field Engineer.

Education

  • High school diploma or High school certificate is required. Training in facility maintenance or painting is desirable.

    Work Experience

  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in facility management, engineering services or related field is required.

  • Experience with a UN Agency or other international Organization is desirable.

  • A valid driving License is desirable.

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required; and ‘fluency’ or ‘knowledge’ of French is ‘desirable’ or ’an advantage’. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
