Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, conducts and manages investigations of cases of alleged misconduct, malfeasance, mismanagement, waste of resources, abuse of authority, sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), and violations of United Nations rules, regulations and administrative instructions
  • Leads and supervises a team of investigators and coordinates the investigative activities of team members; defines the parameters and timetable of an investigation
  • Decides on the investigative tools to be employed; gathers evidence; prepares testimony for tribunals; obtains and reviews pertinent documentation
  • Conducts interviews and takes statements; analyses facts, determines findings and formulates recommended corrective measures and related disciplinary and jurisdictional actions; drafts
    reports and communications
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve Organizational goals in accordance with ID/OIOS standard operating procedures and in compliance with organizational regulations and rules; manages the financial resources and logistics of the unit

    Qualifications

  • Knowledge of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to criminal and administrative investigations.
  • Knowledge of various research methodologies and sources, including electronic sources on the Internet, intranet and other databases.
  • Ability to identify and analyse problems/issues and participate in their resolution. Proven ability to gather evidence and interview suspects and witnesses. Shows pride in work and in achievements;
  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately;
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in law, international law, criminal investigations, police studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in investigatory work, including criminal or administrative investigations, is required.

    United Nations Programme Management Officer Jobs Opportunities in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Initiate and co-ordinate the development of appropriate methods for obtaining relevant data for 26 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators for which UN Environment is the Custodian Agency, mainly related to water, sustainable consumption and production, oceans, biodiversity, and chemicals and waste in cooperation with Partner Organisations.
  • Compile and report data on the 26 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators for which UN Environment is the Custodian Agency to the to the UN SDG global database. Ensure the quality of collected data for accuracy, consistency and comparability. Ensure that reporting data are validated by the countries .
  • Provide metadata to the IAEG-SDG Secretariat.
  • Provide analysis on the progress of SDG targets related to the environmental dimension of the SDGs for the Secretary General's Report on progress towards the goals and targets of the 2030 SD agenda at the global level.
  • Provide analysis of progress on the environment dimension to UN Environment Assembly. develop new or improved statistical methods and quantitative models for analysis and projections.
  • Plan and conduct analytical programmes of work in relevant areas of statistics related to dis-aggregation of statistics, including gender-environment statistics.
  • Identify and prepare projects, conduct analysis and participate in technical advisory activities for national capacity building.
  • Implement projects on capacity building of environment statistics in countries.
  • Supervise and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Environment Live Global Database, web publishing tools and other software for collection, storage and distribution of statistical data;

    Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to particular sector, functional area or other specialized field.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals; solicits input by genuinely valuing others’ ideas and expertise;
  • Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed
    strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments;
  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in mathematics, statistics or related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistical data or related area is required.
  • Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

    United Nations Programme Coordinator (Maritime Crime Programme - Horn of Africa) Jobs Opportunities in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage, coordinate, implement and monitor the Programme strategies and activities as outlined in the document “Programme to support Indian Ocean and Horn of Africa states with the countering of Maritime Crime”, with specific focus on the Horn of Africa, and other relevant projects under the Global Maritime Crime Programme.
  • Draft and review amendments to maritime legislation.
  • Organize and deliver specialized training for national officials involved in responding to maritime crime and conducting maritime law enforcement.
  • Monitor expenditures and utilization of funds related to the Programme and ensure compliance with UN financial rules and regulations, initiate project/programme and/or budget revisions as required.

    Qualifications

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in justice, law, criminology, business administration, operational management or other relevant social or political area with adequate focus on law enforcement issues, is required.
