United Nations Human Settlements Programme Senior Programme Officer - Human Settlements Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to country and regional offices in designing and implementing programmes and projects.

Support country programmes in designing partnerships and projects with International Finance Institutions (IFIs).

Provide substantive input in preparation of position papers and reports for intergovernmental bodies (ACABQ, CPC, ECOSOC, General Assembly, UN‑Habitat Assembly, Executive Board).

Conduct programmatic and substantive reviews of drafts prepared by others.

Contribute to reporting on budget/programme performance and substantive issues in biannual/annual reports.

Represent the Organization at inter‑agency meetings, seminars and conferences.

Participate in international, regional or national meetings, providing programmatic/substantive expertise.

Lead team efforts to collect and analyze data, providing insights to identify trends for data‑driven planning, decision‑making and reporting.

Ensure accessibility, integration and sharing of data across teams.

Perform other related duties as required.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Urban Design, Public Policy, Municipal Finance or related field required.

First‑level degree with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted.

Training in data analytics, business analytics or data science desirable.

Work

Experience

Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in urban development, urban planning, urban finance/economics, public policy or urban governance required.

Experience managing large, dynamic teams in multicultural institutional environments, including at senior level required.

Experience in research, capacity building, financial resource mobilization and management of large/complex projects desirable.

Experience working with the United Nations and International Finance Institutions (IFIs) desirable.

Experience in data analytics or related area desirable.
