United Nations Human Settlements Programme Junior Urban Resilience and Stakeholder Engagement Consultant Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is mandated to promote socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements and adequate shelter for all. The Regional Programme Division (RPD) supports regional and country‑level implementation, ensuring demand‑driven and coordinated assistance. The Urban Lab is UN‑Habitat’s integrative facility, translating innovative processes into transformative solutions for sustainable urbanization.

Job Purpose

To provide technical and sectoral support to the Urban Lab, focusing on water, climate resilience, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable urban development.

Reporting & Communication

The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Urban Lab Coordinators and overall supervision of the Chief, Regional Advisory & Projects Support Section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake reviews, desk research, data gathering, and assessments on urban planning, water, climate, and resilience policies.

  • Provide technical and sectoral support for Urban Lab projects.

  • Deliver expertise on water, climate resilience, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Contribute to normative production of the Urban Lab.

  • Develop presentations, training materials, and capacity‑building workshops.

  • Support participatory, multi‑stakeholder processes tailored to project contexts.

  • Provide input to Urban Lab documents and publications.

  • Support technical development of country proposals and frameworks.

  • Contribute to fundraising strategies and proposals.

  • Support expansion of the Urban Lab project portfolio.

    Qualifications / Special Skills

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Urban Development, Planning, Environmental
    Management, or related field.

  • First‑level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted.

    Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work in sustainable urban development or planning, with focus on water, climate resilience, and urban systems.

  • Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, training sessions, or stakeholder meetings required.

  • Experience coordinating multi‑stakeholder projects desirable.

  • Familiarity with participatory processes and stakeholder engagement methodologies an asset.

  • Knowledge of SDGs and the New Urban Agenda an asset.

  • Experience with international development agencies or UN desirable.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Knowledge of French desirable.
