United Nations Human Settlements Programme Human Resources Assistant Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. This position is located in the Human Resources Management Section, Corporate Management Division, Nairobi Duty Station. Under the overall supervision of the Human Resources Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties.
Responsibilities – Recruitment and Placement
Assist in preparing Terms of Reference and job descriptions; maintain tracking systems for staffing actions.
Compile, summarize, and present information on HR initiatives and staffing actions; follow up on pending matters.
Retrieve staff data records related to appointments, placements, contract extensions and temporary assignments.
Review and follow up on recruitment and separation activities in line with policies.
Monitor leave management records in Umoja; ensure compliance with rules and policies.
Collect, organize, and maintain workforce data; compile staffing statistics and prepare HR reports.
Monitor and maintain HR databases, tracking tools, and records.
Support knowledge sharing sessions and update HR documentation, templates and SOPs.
Serve as focal point for coordination of HR functions, liaising with organizational units.
Contract Administration
Initiate, process, monitor, and follow up on recruitment, placement, promotion, contract extensions, reassignment, separation, and other HR activities.
Assist in reviewing and provide guidance to staff on administrative procedures.
Staff Development and Career Support Training
Organize meetings, workshops, trainings and HR‑related activities.
Liaise with HQ, Regional and Country Offices on HR matters; coordinate follow‑up actions.
Provide logistics and administrative support to trainers.
Classification
Assist in reviewing and processing classification requests.
Provide advice and answer general queries on classification procedures.
General
Provide office support services; draft/process correspondence and communications.
Set up and
maintain reference files/records.
Schedule appointments/meetings; monitor deadlines.
Undertake research on HR issues; assist in preparing briefing notes, presentations, and reports.
Prepare documentation for distribution to offices and departments.
Perform administrative duties (leave recording, office supplies requests, etc.).
Provide guidance/training to less experienced staff.
Assist with data collection, analysis, presentations, reports, and updating information materials.
Perform other related duties as required.

Education
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional qualifications in HR or administration desirable.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of experience in HR management, administrative services, programme management or related area required.
Minimum years reduced by two for candidates with a first‑level university degree.
Experience within the UN Common System or similar international organization required.
Minimum 1 year of HR/Administration experience supporting regional/country offices required.
Experience using recruitment tools like PeopleSoft or Inspira required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in data analytics desirable.
Languages
English required.
French desirable.
