United Nations Human Settlements Programme Administrative Officer Jobs in Kenya; The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities.

  • This position is located in the Human Resources Management Section, Corporate Management Division (HRMS/CMD). The Administrative Officer will report to the Chief of Section.

    Responsibilities

    Administration:

  • Effectively coordinate actions related to human resource activities (recruitment, placement, promotion, performance appraisal, job classification, separation, training) ensuring consistency with UN rules and procedures

  • Coordinate activities related to design and coordination of strategic talent pipelines aligned with future leadership and technical skills needs

  • Define conditions of service, duties, responsibilities, and entitlements under Staff Rules and Regulations

  • Provide support in implementation of the e-Performance system

  • Support and coordinate activities related to investigations in rebuttal cases to the Performance Appraisal System

  • Support and coordinate activities related to management evaluation and investigation cases

  • Participate in design and periodic review of workforce plans aligned with organizational strategy

  • Guide programme managers and staff in use of Inspira for staff selection, ensuring compliance with staff selection system rules

  • Review monthly post incumbency reports for vacancy management and staffing table control

  • Assist Chief of Section in personnel-related issues, including meetings with staff representatives and proposing solutions on staff welfare and conditions of work

  • Discuss grievances with staff members, supervisors, or representatives, and mediate as required

  • Organize, gather, and maintain statistics and prepare reports on personnel matters

  • Monitor and evaluate recruitment and placement activities of regional offices, recommending changes or corrections

    General Administration:

  • Oversee identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software, and systems

  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns, providing insights through data visualization for planning, decision-making,
    and reporting

  • Perform other related work as required

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business/public administration, finance, accounting, law, or related area required

  • First-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted

  • Completion of degree/non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science desirable

    Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, accounting, or management required

  • Experience in recruitment and staff selection using integrated information systems required

  • Experience providing strategic administrative advisory support in an international organization required

  • Experience in administration of large-scale staffing table desirable

  • Experience supporting organizational-wide change management programme desirable

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics desirable

    Languages

  • English required

  • French desirable
