United Nations Environment Programme Youth Officer Consultant Jobs in Kenya;UNEP is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda and promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system. UNEP’s Ecosystems Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and capacity development for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

The Education and Youth Unit oversees education outreach and youth projects, engaging formal education partners in Higher Education and non‑formal partners such as Girl Guides, Scouts, and the video gaming sector to extend environmental education to mass‑reach audiences.

UNEP is scaling up the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge through new funding, and supporting delivery of Sports for Nature and Playing for the Planet. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer of the Wastewater Unit, under the overall supervision of the Chief, Source to Sea Pollution Unit.

Qualifications/Special Skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communications, political science, environmental management, or related field.

Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted.

Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project

or programme management, administration, or related area required.

Project Design: Strong track record of designing projects that secure buy‑in and generate results; ability to deliver highly complex global projects efficiently and effectively required.

Communications: Ability to unite diverse partners around collective programmes of work; ability to write high‑quality reports and proposals required.
