United Nations Environment Programme Senior Programme Management Officer Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.

Within UNEP, the EMG aims at enhancing cooperation in the field of the environment and human settlements within and beyond the UN system. This post is located in UNEP/Environment Management Group (EMG) at the Geneva duty station. Under the direct supervision of the New York Director, the incumbent will carry out the following duties.

Responsibilities

Identify areas of work that could bring greater efficiency and impact through coordination in the UN system.

Develop documents and reports in consultation with UN agencies; propose priorities, problems, and corrective actions.

Undertake survey initiatives; design data collection instruments; analyze responses and prepare conclusions.

Present information from diverse sources on coordination and coherence in UN environmental work.

Review assessments from UN agencies to enable in‑depth discussion on coordinated actions.

Establish collaboration and partnerships with key officials inside and outside the organization.

Coordinate policy development where UN system requires environmental policy.

Supervise preparation of written outputs (background papers, reports, studies, publications).

Direct substantive support to meetings and conferences; propose agenda topics, identify participants, prepare documents and presentations.

Manage outreach activities to ensure UNEP coordination work receives exposure.

Make presentations on agreed coordination topics; serve as spokesperson for EMG when requested.

Ensure gender mainstreaming guidelines are implemented.

Lead team efforts to collect and analyze data; provide insights

for data‑driven planning and reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environment or development related field required.

First‑level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted.

Training in data analytics, business analytics, or data science desirable.

Work Experience

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in environment or development policy/programmes required.

Experience in the UN system or comparable international organization required.

Experience in data analytics desirable.

Experience in environmental governance desirable.

Languages

English required.

French desirable.
