United Nations Environment Programme Public Information Intern Jobs in Kenya; The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

The internship is in the Digital Strategy Section of the Communication Division, which is responsible for digital communications activities including social media, web, internal communications, and the library/knowledge repository units.

Responsibilities

Editorial

Research, compile, draft, and edit basic information for online content, often under tight deadlines.

Review existing content to identify required edits and clean‑up in line with agreed strategies.

Advise and take part in reporting activities, analytics, and creation of dashboards (such as PowerBI).

Support

Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes.

Create presentations and training curricula.

Carry out research tasks and provide inputs into digital strategy planning and activities.

Assist with special projects as assigned.

Technical

Take part in knowledge repository/taxonomy clean‑up, indexing, and related work.

Experience in DSpace is a plus (but not required).

Front and back‑end Drupal development work in an AWS environment.

Qualifications / Special Skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
• Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Preferred areas of study: Communication, International Affairs, or

Environment‑related field.

No professional work experience required.

Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Applicants must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme, or have completed one of these programmes.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

Intern Specific Text

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.

Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.

Successful candidates should discuss specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
