United Nations Environment Programme Programme Management Intern Jobs in Kenya



United Nations Environment Programme Programme Management Intern Jobs in Kenya; Support the Monitoring of the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) Programme under the CITES Secretariat, UNEP. Assist in communications, multimedia production, data organization, and event coordination to strengthen engagement with elephant range States and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing MIKE meetings, workshops, and events, including Subregional Steering Committee and Technical Advisory Group sessions.

  • Develop and adapt MIKE materials to support effective delivery of workshops and meetings.

  • Support communication and maintain engagement with elephant range States.

  • Take minutes, prepare, and distribute documentation before and after meetings.

  • Compile and organize MIKE data related to illegal killing trends.

  • Prepare summaries and briefing notes based on MIKE reports and findings.

  • Support document archiving and file organization on SharePoint and other platforms.

  • Assist with logistical and administrative preparation of missions, meetings, and events.

  • Maintain updated planning tools, calendars, and tracking systems.

  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or
    Ph.D. programme.

  • Preferred fields: Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Management, Project Management, Business Management, or related areas.

  • Demonstrated interest in wildlife conservation, particularly elephant conservation.

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.

  • Proficiency in standard software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

    Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Knowledge of French or Spanish desirable.
