United Nations Environment Programme Intern - Programme Support Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is offering internship opportunities in the Quality Assurance Section (QAS) of the Policy and Programme Division (PPD). The role supports UNEP’s commitments on gender equality, disability inclusion, poverty eradication, and safeguards, while contributing to programme quality assurance and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Support

Assist in implementing UN‑SWAP, UNDIS, and UNEP’s work on SDGs 1 and 10.

Support the Concept Approval Group (CAG) and Project Review Committee (PRC).

Contribute to workshops, youth activities, and poverty eradication initiatives.

Gender & Inclusion

Support mainstreaming of gender equality and women’s empowerment across UNEP programmes.

Conduct Gender Marker reviews and monitor gender‑related commitments.

Assist with disability inclusion and intersectional inclusion activities.

Research & Analysis

Carry out research on gender, safeguards, and environmental/social issues.

Summarize emerging trends and contribute insights in group discussions.

Monitor and analyze data on UNEP’s Quality Assurance platforms.

Communications & Outreach

Draft impact stories and messages for UNEP digital platforms.

Prepare presentations using PowerPoint, Canva, and other tools.

Support community of practice workshops and prepare visualizations of findings.

Administrative Support

Assist with planning and coordinating meetings and joint events with partners.

Monitor information uploaded to the Open Data

Portal and prepare draft reports.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Degree in International Affairs, Economics, Gender Studies, Human Rights, Sociology, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or related field.

Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.

Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook required.

Interest in quality assurance, poverty eradication, vulnerable groups, gender, and safeguards desirable.

Experience with Canva, Photoshop, presentation design, or video editing desirable.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English required.

French desirable.

Work Location & Duration

Nairobi duty station (Policy & Programme Division).

Internship duration as per UNEP guidelines.
