United Nations Environment Programme Environmental Affairs Intern Jobs in Kenya; The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an intern to join the Secretariat for the Vienna Convention and its Montreal Protocol (Ozone Secretariat) at the Nairobi duty station. The successful candidate will support work on energy efficiency and sustainable cooling, gaining hands‑on experience in preparing background documents for intergovernmental meetings, contributing to policy‑relevant materials, and assisting in the development of an online toolkit and atlas on sustainable cold chains.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze submissions from parties and conduct research on energy efficiency and sustainable cooling.

  • Develop sections of background documents, fact sheets, policy briefs, and online resources.

  • Support meetings taking place during the internship period.

    Qualifications / Special Skills
  • Enrollment in, or completion of, a graduate programme (Master’s or higher) in engineering, environmental policy, or related field.

  • Enrollment in, or completion of, the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental policy, or related field.

  • No prior professional work experience required, but field of study must be closely related.

  • Good knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

    Languages
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required.

  • Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
