United Nations Environment Programme Development Coordination and Food System Consultant Jobs in Kenya

Job Purpose

Provide technical support to UNCTs and UNRC systems under the UNSDCF framework, focusing on food systems transformation and environmental sustainability.

Support mainstreaming of transition pathways for SDG implementation, coordination of dialogues, and technical backstopping to strengthen UNEP’s visibility and country engagement.

Report to the Regional Development Coordination team under the supervision of the Regional Development Coordination Officer for Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support in the development of CCAs and UN‑CF frameworks.

Coordinate implementation of outcomes from UNRC dialogues.

Offer advisory support between RDC Unit, Results Groups, UNRCs, and national institutions.

Provide technical backstopping to UNCT FP systems in Africa.

Support capacity building on UNCT FP mechanisms.

Provide technical support for CCA and UN‑CF end cycle quality assessments.

Assist RD and DRD with high‑level political representation (briefing notes, country briefs, strategic readouts).

Provide technical guidance to UNCT reporting, including UN INFO.

Support implementation and monitoring of Africa Office Management Project.

Contribute to resource mobilization and environmental financing.

Support RDC projects related to food systems.

Qualifications & Special Skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Project Management, Economics, or related field required.

First‑level degree plus two additional years of experience may be accepted.

Experience with an international organization desirable.

Languages

Fluency in English required.

Knowledge of French desirable.
