United Nations Environment Programme Consultant - Specialist in Ecosystems Restoration Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an International Consultant to support the SIDS Restoration Flagship in Saint Lucia. The role will provide technical leadership for Component 2, strengthening community and business capacities to capitalize on restoration activities, inform national policy, and connect with regional/global Sustainable Blue Economy opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

National Priority Identification

Support structured processes to identify and prioritize interventions under Component 2.

Provide technical analysis and documentation for national decision‑making.

Workplan Development & Validation

Lead technical revision and development of a comprehensive Component 2 workplan.

Support convening of technical consultations and validation through national governance mechanisms.

Implementation Support

Provide technical support to operationalize agreed activities.

Prepare/review terms of reference, scopes of work, concept notes, technical specifications, and partner agreements.

Establish practical implementation management systems with clear responsibilities and timelines.

Integrated Restoration & Livelihoods

Ensure programming reflects integrated ridge‑to‑reef approaches.

Link ecological restoration with sustainable resource management, livelihoods, climate resilience, and blue economy opportunities.

Strategic Alignment & Partnerships

Map relevant programmes and investments for complementarity and co‑financing.

Support coordination with government, UNDP/GEF, FAO, GIZ, civil society, academia, and private sector.

FERM Mainstreaming

Strengthen institutional uptake and operationalization of the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM).

Identify opportunities to mainstream FERM across ministries and programmes.

Component 3 Pipeline Development

Identify restoration‑linked Sustainable

Blue Economy opportunities for scaling and investment.

Prepare pipeline ideas framework and assess opportunities for replication, financing, and SIDS‑SIDS knowledge exchange.

Deliverables

Six Technical Progress Reports covering: national priority assessment, implementation support, integrated restoration recommendations, strategic partnership framework, FERM mainstreaming, and Component 3 investment pipeline.

Qualifications

Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in marine sciences, environmental economics, natural resource management, coastal development, or related field.

First‑level degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted.

Minimum 7 years’ experience in sustainable blue economy strategy/policy, marine resource management, or coastal/marine planning.

Experience working in SIDS, preferably Caribbean.

Knowledge of international policy frameworks and SDGs, especially SDG 14.

Proven experience conducting similar assignments at regional/global level.

Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Languages

Fluency in English required.

French desirable.
