United Nations Environment Programme Consultant – Ecosystem Restoration Programming Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development, and serves as an advocate for the global environment.

UNEP’s Ecosystems Division supports the transition to a Sustainable Blue Economy within the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030). The SIDS Restoration Flagship aims to enhance ecosystem resilience, promote sustainable livelihoods, and foster conservation and restoration in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), including Saint Lucia.

About the Role

The consultant will provide technical support for Component 2 of the SIDS Restoration Flagship in Saint Lucia: strengthening local capacities, informing national policy and planning, and bridging national priority‑setting with regional/global investment opportunities under Component 3.

Key Deliverables

Technical Progress Report 1 – National priority assessment, revised costed workplan, technical recommendations, supporting documentation.

Technical Progress Report 2 – Implementation support, budgeting, coordination, tracking, recommendations for effective delivery.

Technical Progress Report 3 – Integrated ecosystem restoration and sustainable livelihood programming recommendations.

Technical Progress Report 4 – Strategic partnership and programme alignment framework.

Technical Progress Report 5 – FERM mainstreaming and operationalisation recommendations; guidance for institutional uptake and monitoring.

Technical Progress Report 6 – Component 3 opportunity pipeline and investment readiness framework; prioritised portfolio list of restoration‑linked Sustainable Blue Economy opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Support national priority identification and technical prioritization.

Develop and validate Component 2 workplan with stakeholders.

Provide technical support for workplan implementation.

Ensure integrated restoration and sustainable livelihood programming.

Map programmes and identify opportunities for

alignment and partnerships.

Support national uptake and mainstreaming of the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM).

Identify Component 3 pipeline opportunities for scaling and investment.

Qualifications & Special Skills

Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Marine Sciences, Environmental Economics, Natural Resource Management, Coastal Development, or related field required.

First‑level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted.

Minimum 7 years’ experience in sustainable blue economy strategy/policy, marine resource management, coastal zone management, catchment management, or marine spatial planning.

Experience working in SIDS, preferably Caribbean region, required.

Knowledge of international policy frameworks and SDGs, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water), required.

Previous experience conducting similar assignments at regional or global level desirable.

Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills desirable.

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English required.

French desirable.
