United Nations Environment Programme Communications and Outreach Intern Jobs in Kenya; The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an intern to support the Interim Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Science‑Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution (ISP‑CWP). The successful candidate will assist with communications, outreach, meeting preparation, and Secretariat operations, contributing to UNEP’s mission of strengthening the science‑policy interface on chemicals, waste, and pollution.

Responsibilities

Support to the Interim Secretariat

Assist in preparatory work for the convening of the resumed first session of the Plenary.

Support other Secretariat tasks as appropriate.

Communication and Outreach Support

Draft communication materials including fact sheets, infographics, banners, brochures, posters, presentation templates, briefing notes, and outreach messages.

Contribute to awareness‑raising activities such as drafting web content and updating the website.

Prepare communication materials for intergovernmental meetings and stakeholder consultations.

Support outreach materials targeted at governments, scientists, civil society organizations, and international partners.

Qualifications / Special Skills

Applicants must be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in/completed a Master’s or Ph.D. programme.

Field of study must be closely related to the internship type.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

and web‑based platforms required.

Good knowledge of graphic design and communication software (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign) highly desirable.

Preferred fields of study include communications, science communication, media studies, international relations, environmental policy, environmental management, political science, environmental law, public policy, development studies, or related fields.

Languages

Fluency in English required.

Knowledge of another UN official language desirable.
