United Nations Environment Programme CCAC Programme Specialist Jobs in Kenya; The Programme Specialist will provide expert support for the management and delivery of substantive portfolios within the CCAC work programme.

The role covers country engagement, project and grant delivery, strategy and governance, science and assessments, communications, partnership engagement, resource mobilisation and sector‑focused work.

Key Objectives

  • Provide specialist advice to plan, manage and deliver CCAC programmes, projects and activities.

  • Develop workplans, budgets, risk registers and management tools.

  • Coordinate governments, partners, implementers and experts for timely delivery.

  • Prepare strategies, proposals, briefings, presentations and decision papers.

  • Review and quality‑assure outputs to ensure alignment with objectives.

  • Monitor progress, risks and lessons; maintain documentation and reporting.

  • Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops and consultations.

  • Represent CCAC in external engagements.

  • Improve systems, guidance and ways of working.

  • Provide ad hoc support across Secretariat functions.

    Performance Indicators

  • Assigned work areas delivered against objectives and deadlines.

  • Substantive products clear, accurate and strategically useful.

  • Effective coordination of governments, partners and contributors.

  • Reliable monitoring, documentation and reporting of progress.

  • Work advances CCAC priorities and reflects in‑depth knowledge of SLCPs.

  • Contribution to cross‑functional delivery and Secretariat improvements.

    Qualifications /
    Special Skills


  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, International Relations, Public Policy, Development Studies, Programme/Project Management, Communications or related field required.

  • First‑level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted.

  • Minimum 5 years’ direct professional experience in climate change and air pollution required.

  • In‑depth knowledge of SLCPs/super pollutants required.

  • Experience in multi‑stakeholder partnerships and coordination required.

  • Experience preparing clear written products and supporting multiple activities required.

  • Experience in international or developing‑country context desirable.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Knowledge of other UN official languages an asset.
