United Nations Children's Fund Human Resources Assistant Vacancies in Kenya


Introduction

Responsibilities

  • Maintains statistics and runs reports from different systems, such as ACHIEVE reports, staff data, gender for all categories of staff, geographical distribution, and recruitment.
  • Maintains data on completion of mandatory training courses, updates progress report on group and individual training.
  • Assist in the recruitment process: drafts requisitions in TMS based on the JDs, contact shortlisted candidates for written test and interviews and administer these. Sends regret letters to unsuccessful candidates.
  • Drafts HR letters for banks, security service, etc., for newcomers, and non-standard HR certificates.
  • Maintains personal files, both hard copy and electronical (OSF).
    Serves as back up for leave and vendor management.
  • Management of Appendix D cases; ASHI enrollment, override, interface with retirees.
  • UNLP issuance, renewal and cancellation.
  • Performs other duties as required

    Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education.
  • Training in Human resources field is desirable.
  • Four years of experience in clerical and/or administrative work, preferably in HR area.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Fluency in English

    United Nations Children's Child Protection Specialist (CPiE) Vacancies in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Provide quality assurance and oversight to child protection in emergencies (CpiE) response in the region including technical and surge missions as required.
  • Study, analyze and contribute to the review of documents and processes of country program milestones (situation analysis, strategy papers, mid-term reviews, preparation of Country Program Recommendations, etc.).
  • Provide technical input and management of learning initiatives toward development of global and regional public goods per regional office work plans.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance in the preparation and analysis of evaluations in the area of CPiE in the region. Prepare and share lessons learnt from these.
  • Participate in the development of strategies and funding proposals in the area of CpiE and maintain dialogue with donors and potential donors of regional importance with a view to ensuring sustainability of interest and commitment to relevant program activities. Provide timely and qualitative reports to donors.
  • Lead and convene key regional CPIE processes, negotiate, advocate and build strategic alliances to facilitate achievement of ESAR program objectives.
  • As the business manager for results areas, take responsibility for overall commitment,
    expenditures of funds in accordance with program budget allotments and take necessary action to ensure optimum use of allocated funds. Manage human resourced dimensions including recruitment and supervision of consultants as required.
  • Carry out other relevant duties that may be assigned by the supervisor generally and in particular, in response to unforeseen emergencies.

    Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in law or a related social science discipline with emphasis on participatory communication, communication planning, social mobilization, participatory research, training and impact evaluation of communication interventions.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible work experience in the planning and management of social development programmes, including in developing countries, with practical experience in designing, planning and running special protection programmes in conflict and other emergency situations.
  • Significant child protection in emergencies experience, across multiple work areas such as children affected by armed conflict and unaccompanied and separated children.
  • Experience in leading multi - agency work processes highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English required; working knowledge of French is desirable.

    United Nations Children's Child Information Communication Technology Officer Vacancies in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning support : Coordinate various activities for the development of regional and country office innovation strategy, support work planning, bimonthly, annual reports and monitoring of results for the T4D initiatives in the region
  • Project Support : Responsible for supporting Country Offices with RapidPro scale up and other T4D projects in the ESA region, prepare regular progress and project deployment reports, coordinate project meetings and workshops, provide support towards RFP, LTA and contracting processes, and coordinate with external suppliers
  • Knowledge Management : Ensure that innovations knowledge base is up to date including research, analysis documents and reports, moderate user forums and webinars, manage content and user activity on the Rapid Pro community website – including outreach to users
  • Capacity building and training : Prepare one-pagers and presentation materials for various tools including RapidPro remote orientations and on-site workshops, hold remote orientations and demonstrations on RapidPro to the Country Offices and partners, facilitate workshops together with UNICEF programs and partners, introducing RapidPro and developing real-time monitoring solutions

    Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, International Affairs, International Relations, International Development, Business Management, or related practical experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience managing, designing and implementing solutions for large-scale technical projects, including supervising engineers and software developers, responsibility for budgets, contracts and procurement, etc.
  • Experience with technology related projects in a development context and/or the UN.
  • Proven skills in training, management, and strategic thinking.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
