United Nations Children's Fund Knowledge Management Specialist Career Opportunities in Kenya


Introduction

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update the knowledge management strategy and associated work plan.
  • Lead in the implementation of the knowledge management strategy including development of tools for the dissemination of programme information, best practices, lessons learned for sharing with target audiences.
  • Promote a better understanding of knowledge management within ESARO with the ultimate objective of contributing to a culture of learning within the office and among key partners. Ensure rapid and accurate information and knowledge dissemination to key audiences.
  • Ensure or enhance the quality, consistency and appropriateness of knowledge for UNICEF's strategic priorities on an on-going basis.
  • Make occasional field missions to support and participate in assessment, validation and developing evidence-based documentation.
  • Ensure all materials are available and accessible in a user-friendly database for use by UNICEF programme staff.
  • Dissemination of best practices and lessons learned among country office, ESARO and HQ colleagues and monitor and evaluate their use.

    Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in social sciences, economics, information and knowledge management, or a related technical field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in knowledge management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing community management and engagement strategies for the UN, nonprofit organizations and/or private sector companies.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
  • Proven writing skills, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct, and lively style.
  • Excellent knowledge of online collaborative tools with the ability to adapt quickly to technological changes and foster use of appropriate KE tools and technologies to improve KE for internal and external partners.
  • Experience in reporting on qualitative and quantitative analytics.
  • Fluency in English and another UN language.
  • Fluency in the national language of the duty station an asset.

    United Nations Children's Partnerships Officer (Public
    Sector) Career Opportunities in Kenya


    Responsibilities

  • Provides support to new partnerships and resource mobilization, working with UNICEF colleagues to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs and provide information to broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs.
  • Develops and maintains deep knowledge and familiarity with current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, managing a database of key contacts and to UNICEF’s base of knowledge on partnership and resource mobilization.
  • Supports the implementation of partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans.
  • Acts as focal point for COs in the identification and pursuit of opportunities for outreach, engagement, policy influence and collaboration, including on how to anticipate and respond to partners’ concerns and priorities, ensure that UNICEF’s interests, perspectives, and knowledge are taken into account in relevant policy and institutional processes, and ensure that they are fully aware of UNICEF’s perspectives, policies, priorities and capabilities.
  • Contributes to the development of new partnership and resource mobilization practices and approaches by formulating recommendations for action based on on-going monitoring, analyzing current trends within designated partners and formulating recommendations for strategy approaches and message development.

    Qualifications

  • An Advanced university in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science or other related field.*
  • A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • At least two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in external relations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably in an international organization is required. Experience in Africa a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required with knowledge of another UN language considered as an asset.
