    Purpose:

  • To support the Ethiopia WASH Team in report submission, fundraising, knowledge management and programmatic activities related to sustainability.

    Specific Tasks

    Donor Management

  • Provide technical support for timely submission of WASH donor reports and donor proposals working closely with related pillar manager and the Regional WASH officers.
  • The exact number of reports and proposals will vary but this is likely to exceed one report/proposal per month.

    Sustainability of Programming

  • Provide technical support in strengthening the sustainability of rural water supply systems and rural sanitation programming in Ethiopia.
  • This would include field monitoring visits, identifying and applying best practice from other regions and countries and supporting implementation of activities.

    Knowledge Management

  • Develop knowledge management products highlighting key areas of learning of benefit to UNICEF and wider WASH sector.
  • This could include UNICEF’s recent work on sanitation micro-planning, UNICEF’s solar conversion work, UNICEF’s partnership for low-cost sanitation solutions with LiXiL, UNICEF’s sustainability checks research among other potential topics.

    Methodology

  • The individual shall:
  • Work as a member of the Addis Ababa WASH team,
  • Work in close collaboration with WASH officers in the Regional offices as required in performing the tasks
  • Undertake field and monitoring visits within Ethiopia as shall be necessary

    Expected Results

  • High quality and concise donor reports are submitted in a timely manner with accurate and relevant information and evidence, including human interest stories where required.
  • High quality, successful funding proposals are developed for the WASH programme, coordinated with other sections where necessary.
  • Knowledge Management products showcasing lessons learnt and best practice from UNICEF
    Ethiopia’s WASH programme are produced and disseminated to key stakeholders.
  • Technical support which strengthens the implementation of UNICEF Ethiopia’s rural WASH programme is provided.
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
  • A university degree in related field; such as development studies, social science, civil engineering, environmental management, public health, health policy, water resources management or equivalent experience.
  • Post-graduate education in a relevant field is an asset.
  • A minimum of Two years of relevant professional experience in international development and/or emergencies; previous experience with donor reporting and proposal writing required, preferably for a UN agency.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
