    The Local Security Associates will provide technical, operational and administrative assistance on the safety and security of personnel and will safeguard UNICEF premises, assets and resources at the duty station.

    The Local Security Associates (LSA) based in multiple Duty Stations in South Sudan will report directly to the Chief of Field Office (CFO) with technical oversight by the Security Manager.

    In carrying out their duties, the Local Security Associates are expected to follow instructions precisely and in strict compliance with their supervisor’s instructions and UN Security related policies, rules and procedures.

    The Local Security Associate may be required to conduct deep field missions alone or as part of a team to non-SRM compliant locations with minimal facilities or resources.

  • Support in Knowledge Management and Capacity Building
  • Security Assessment and Advisory
  • Compilation of Written Security Reports

    Qualifications required:

  • Completion of secondary education, supplemented by relevant technical/military/police courses and/or university courses in a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a security related environment is required.
  • Fluency in English and the local language is required.

    Please note:

  • Local Security Associates (Fixed Term positions) are being recruited for the following duty stations: Aweil, Bentiu, Bor, Kuajok, Malakal, Rumbek, Torit, Yambio, Yei and Wau;
  • Candidates are required to indicate in their cover letter up to 3 preferred locations in order of preference, for example, 1: Aweil, 2: Yambio, 3: Bor;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who come from or have relevant experience at the duty station with UNICEF or/and other UN agencies and NGOs;
  • The recruitment process to fill these positions will be competitive and conducted as a batch selection process.
