UNICEF Internship: Programme Monitoring & Evaluation Intern Jobs in Ethiopia



The overall purpose of this internship is to support the Tigray PMU in assessing the quality and minimum standards of humanitarian response and recovery interventions, as well as collect feedback from the affected populations.

This information will provide the management with an overview of the quality of UNICEF's work and the perspective of the affected populations. This will help UNICEF improve its program by allowing it to make course corrections and respond to people's needs in a timely manner.

The Programme Monitoring & Evaluation (PMU) Intern will be responsible for supporting the monitoring and reporting of the different programs that UNICEF is supporting in accessible locations in Tigray.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Planning and Monitoring Specialist, Mekelle, the intern will undertake the following tasks related to data collection and reporting:

  • Using appropriate methods such as observation, interviews, and focus group discussions, validate that the activity under review was implemented as planned, and check and verify data quality.

  • Data is to be collected on the quality of program delivery, effectiveness of the program in addressing barriers and bottlenecks and accuracy of reports.

  • Share the collected data by uploaded to the PMU-Server.

  • Create one page reports as required.

  • He or she should be enrolled at a university in Ethiopia at the undergraduate or graduate level or be a recent graduate (within the past two years) in in Statistics, Economics, Public Health, or a relevant Social Sciences field is required.

  • Candidates that were enrolled in full time university studies in Tigray for a first (bachelor’s) degree prior to 2020 and who would have graduated in 2020, 2021 or 2022 in normal circumstances, are eligible. This covers all students who were enrolled and had their schooling interrupted. Please make a note of these details in your application cover letter, if applicable

  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office is required.

  • Fluency in English is required.
