    The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services, demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol whilst ensuring compliance with local driving rules and regulations.

    The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

    The Driver will report to the Transport Associate in Juba or the Administrative Associate or equivalent function in the Field Offices.

    Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Reliable and safe driving services for staff and officials
  • Maintenance of assigned vehicle
  • Documentation of vehicle-related information

    Qualifications required:

  • A secondary education is required, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations;
  • A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required;
  • Good knowledge of the city, local roads and conditions where the office is located;
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies;

    Skills in minor vehicle repairs;

  • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with visitors;
  • High sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment;
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural background;
  • Fluency of the local language of the duty station as well as
    proficiency in English is required.

    Please note:

  • Drivers (Fixed Term positions) are being recruited for the following duty stations: Aweil, Bentiu, Bor, Juba, Kuajok, Malakal, Pibor, Rumbek, Torit, Yambio and Wau.
  • Candidates are required to indicate in their cover letter up to 3 preferred locations in order of preference, for example, 1: Kuajok, 2: Aweil, 3: Torit;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a clean driver record, long serving service with UNICEF and high performing UNICEF staff members on Temporary Appointments (TA);
  • The recruitment process to fill these positions will be competitive and conducted as a batch selection process which may include a driving test;
  • To ensure fairness and transparency, UNICEF Staff Association Executive Committee members may be part of the selection process.
