Contributing to the evidence-base for policy, advocacy and programming, delivering innovative programmes with partners – especially in high-burden and low-performing districts, and supporting the Government to develop and implement policies and strategies to take vital action to scale.

How can you make a difference?

  • Benchmark the Vaccinator manual with at least 6 regional and global manual standards, including but not limited to WHO, UNICEF, CDC among others.

    Conduct a desktop exercise comparing current vaccinator manual and manuals/guidelines of similar content to summarize best practices and content to consider for incorporation and improvement of the current Vaccinator Manual.

  • Review the current manual structure and obtain consensus on the new proposed structure, and revise the current vaccinator manual, aligned with the existing DOH initiatives (e.g., SIDE-BY-SIDE) and other national strategies, including incorporation of the relevant sections of the various acts.

    Revise the vaccinator manual structure and obtain NDOH consensus on the new structure
    Align with existing DOH initiatives (e.g. Ideal Clinic and Side by Side initiative)
    Incorporate and reference relevant sections of various Acts Cross
    reference with the Cold Chain Manual and the COVID-19 toolkit Consolidate comments from stakeholders Obtain final consensus on the content via a multi-stakeholder workshop
    Finalize the vaccinator manual including all the relevant annexures including graphic design and layout; to get a print ready version

  • Develop PowerPoint presentations, on the manual chapters to upload onto the Knowledge hub online platform.

  • Material repository.

    Completed Manual and PowerPoint Presentations uploaded on the website and KH of the NDoH, for online self- learning, and other learning approaches

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Health Sciences (Public Health, Medicine)
  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience providing technical support in immunization programs at regional, national or provincial level
    References of previous similar work done are an added advantage
  • Proven extensive expertise and knowledge of the National Department of Health’s Expanded Program on Immunization
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language r a local language is an asset
