Unga Holding Nutritionist Jobs in Kenya; The Nutritionist will optimize animal feed formulations across poultry, ruminants, swine, rabbits, horses, monkeys, and lab animals. The role involves monitoring Kenchic formulations, developing new products, conducting trials, and building technical capacity for the sales team. The position ensures quality, cost efficiency, and competitiveness of Unga’s products across East Africa.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Feed Formulations

  • Optimize feed formulations for multiple animal categories.

  • Monitor Kenchic formulations monthly or as needed.

  • Conduct least‑cost reformulations and prepare raw material proximate averages.

  • Hold monthly planning and formulation meetings with procurement, plant managers, and Trouw Nutrition.

    Mineral & Fish Plant Formulations

  • Review mineral and premix formulations annually.

  • Align in‑house premixes and minerals in Bestmix.

  • Prepare monthly fish formulation data and coordinate with Trouw Nutrition.

    Production Planning

  • Prepare monthly raw material forecasts for Nairobi, Nakuru, and Tunga plants.

  • Assist procurement with alternative raw material sourcing.

  • Run parametrics on new raw materials and suggest unconventional options (e.g., BSF, lupins, croton).

    Swine & Rabbit Technical Advisory

  • Monitor sales of revamped swine and rabbit ranges.

  • Develop new products guided by market gaps (e.g., Pig Grower in line with KEBS standards).

  • Upload pig information and performance calculators in Fugo Smart app.

  • Support sales team with technical information
    and conduct performance trials.

    Quality Assurance & Issue Resolution

  • Align raw material and finished product specifications.

  • Ensure coding accuracy in NIR.

  • Work with QA to resolve nutritional customer complaints.

  • Follow up with production to ensure correct formulations are implemented.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health & Production, Animal Science, or Animal Nutrition (Mandatory).

  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant working experience.

  • Knowledge of feed formulation software.

  • Strong analytical and research skills for new product development.

  • Computer literacy with advanced spreadsheet knowledge.
