Unga Holding Miller Jobs in Kenya;Reporting to the Senior Miller, the purpose of the role is to ensure safe and efficient operation of grain milling equipment. The Miller will optimize grain cleaning and grinding processes to achieve intended extraction rates, perform troubleshooting, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Production Planning

  • Execute production plans and schedules on time

  • Review and replenish FG Kanban to increase product availability

  • Post bulk flour in SAP as per SLA with stakeholders

  • Collaborate with sales team for prompt communication on orders

    Food Safety & Quality

  • Enhance customer experience through conforming products

  • Maintain GMPs above 90%

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

  • Implement Quality Plan and food safety programs

    Grain Cleaning Process

  • Maintain equipment efficiencies and operational excellence

  • Ensure optimal water addition and lying time for wheat and maize

  • Achieve hourly transfer targets (Wheat 14MT/hr, Maize 8.5MT/hr)

  • Optimize screenings separation and handling

    Grain Conversion

  • Maintain extraction rates and milling efficiencies

  • Monitor milling costs and optimize wheat grist

  • Investigate process losses and take corrective actions

  • Adhere to product specifications

    Pest Management

  • Maintain hygiene and sanitation of equipment

  • Inspect for infestation and conduct deep cleaning

  • Support AM and PM maintenance for equipment integrity

    Flour Transfer Process

  • Manage flour transfer from mill to packing lines

  • Coordinate with Packing Supervisor to ensure availability per plan

    Maintenance Programs

  • Conduct routine inspections and autonomous maintenance

  • Support planned maintenance (roll
    change, sifter servicing, drives)

  • Maintain MCC, PLC, and process scales integrity

  • Ensure interlock systems function without bypass

    Continual Improvement

  • Improve efficiencies through PaTaMu and PDCA

  • Enhance employee competencies via training

  • Participate in monthly HK Reviews and site initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements

    Leadership & Accountability

  • Coach and mentor employees; ensure effective communication

  • Resolve conflicts and escalate issues timely

  • Promote process ownership and accountability

    Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain process records and generate production reports

  • Share error‑free reports with stakeholders

  • Reconcile additives and participate in stocktake processes

    Job Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Milling Technology

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the milling industry

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office

  • Strong communication and supervisory skills

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

  • Excellent presentation skills
