Unga Holding Logistics Officer - IPT Jobs in Kenya;The Logistics Officer is responsible for efficient, timely, and cost‑effective coordination of logistics operations, with specific responsibility for interplant transfers, bulk material movements, and rail transfers. The role ensures smooth flow of materials and products by planning, coordinating, monitoring, documenting, and communicating assigned movements, while proactively addressing delays and minimizing storage costs, transport inefficiencies, and supply disruptions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Interplant Transfer Coordination
Coordinate movement of raw materials, finished goods, and products between plants and depots.
Liaise with sending and receiving plants to confirm requirements, schedules, and priorities.
Allocate and dispatch vehicles per transport plans.
Track vehicles and provide status updates.
Follow up on delivery documentation and proof of delivery.
Escalate delays, breakdowns, or operational issues.
Maintain accurate records of interplant movements.
Warehouse / Storage to Plant Logistics
Coordinate bulk cargo movement from storage areas to plants.
Liaise with imports logistics officer and transporters to meet timelines.
Monitor cargo availability, clearance status, and delivery schedules.
Ensure documentation is captured and filed.
Escalate delays affecting production or supply.
Rail Coordination
Plan and coordinate rail movements from terminal to plants.
Liaise with railway operators and stakeholders on schedules.
Monitor wagon loading, dispatch, arrival, and offloading.
Track consignments and provide updates.
Follow up on delays, wagon availability, and documentation issues.
Maintain accurate rail movement records.
Transporter Coordination
Communicate daily transport requirements to transporters.
Follow up on vehicle availability, positioning, loading, and delivery.
Monitor transporter performance and report failures.
Verify transport documentation and delivery records.
Logistics Tracking & Reporting
Maintain daily movement trackers for road, rail, and plant deliveries.
Prepare daily/weekly logistics status reports.
Monitor KPIs: on‑time delivery, turnaround time,
transit times, delays, storage exposure, pending deliveries, proof of delivery compliance.
Reconcile transport and delivery records.
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure logistics documentation is complete, accurate, and filed.
Verify delivery notes, transfer documents, weighbridge tickets, and proof of delivery.
Follow company logistics procedures and safety requirements.
Ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.
Escalate documentation gaps or compliance issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Management, or related field.
Professional Qualifications
Certification in Fleet/Logistics or Transport Management an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, warehouse, and transport operations.
Experience in transport coordination, fleet tracking, warehouse operations, or distribution an added advantage.
Exposure to road, rail, containerized cargo, or interplant logistics desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office applications.
Knowledge of ERP/logistics management systems an added advantage.
