Job Description
Reporting to the Managing Director Administratively and to the Board Risk & Audit Committee functionally, the incumbent shall be tasked with the following responsibilities:
Managing Internal Audit Function
Facilitating the Audit Committee Meetings through the Managing Director and provision of the Audit Committee with a secretariat.
Preparation of Annual Internal Audit plan.
Evaluating the effectiveness of the Internal Controls in the organization
Preparing the Audit Programmes in line with the Audit Plan and the Audit Committee agreed areas of focus.
Carrying out of risk based internal audits and preparation of timely, detailed, accurate audit reports.
Advising senior management on key audit issues and recommendations through exit meetings
Facilitating the development of a strong Internal Audit team through training
Evaluate the effectiveness of Enterprise Risk Management and provide quarterly status reports
Recommending mitigation measures to address identified weaknesses where necessary
Job Specifications
Possess a master’s degree (Finance or Accounting option) or equivalent
A minimum of 10 years work experience in auditing three of which should be in a Senior Position.
Professional Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) or its equivalent for the last 5 years
Be a registered member of ICPAK and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
Possess good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of Management and Employees.
Knowledge of Kenyan tax laws
Must be a person of high integrity
Good knowledge of risk-based auditing methodologies
ISA and IFRSs
Working knowledge and application of computer Aided Audit techniques and tools (CAATT`S)
Possess good knowledge of Risk Monitoring
and assessment
