Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new application systems releases, modules and functionalities.
  • Develop, build website back-end using Drupal and implement frontend for websites based on designs using UN established standards for web development, IT technologies, programming languages and tools.
  • Serve as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaise with users to define and specify requirements.
  • Install web application modules ; monitor website performance using appropriate monitoring tools and produce monitoring reports.
  • Prepare technical and user documentation for deployed website, application systems, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations.
  • Maintain functional specifications for websites, programs and procedures developed and/or modified.
  • Provide support for deployed website including version management, data recovery and deployment to users’ offices; perform ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users requests.
  • Manage the functional aspects of the Google Analytics and assure that all parameters are set correctly based on corporate requirements
  • Draft correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
  • Serve as focal point for coordination, monitoring and expedition of web-based projects, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units to initiate requests; prepares standard terms of reference; processes and follows-up on administrative actions and resolves issues related to project implementation, e.g. organization of and participation in training, procurement of equipment and services, etc.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field; perform bench marking and proposes new acquisitions.
  • Provide guidance to new/junior staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school is required. Supplementary training in Information Technology is required.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in web development, information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related area.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Excellent knowledge of commonly used Drupal modules, such as Views, CCK, Taxonomy, Features;

    UNEP Finance and Budget Assistant Jobs in Nairobi

    Responsibilities

  • Act as Certifying Officer for the Corporate Services Division and Executive Office
  • Provide support to managers with respect to the elaboration of resource requirements and assist in the preparation and submission of the budget proposals and allocations for the
    Regular Budget, Environment Fund, and Programme Support Cost (PSC);
  • Provide support in the preparation and monitoring of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) budget and funding status;
  • Assist in the preparation of budget performance submissions as well as periodic and ad-hoc reports including monthly
    budget dashboard reports to senior management, Programme
  • Performance Reports (PPR) to UN Environment Senior Management as well as to the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR);
  • Provide support with respect to the review, analyses and preparation of the Programme of Work and its revisions.
  • Prepare supporting documents (narrative and supporting tables) with respect to finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals, in terms of staff and non-staff requirements.
  • Assist managers in the elaboration of resource requirements for budget submissions.
  • Undertake research and provides support to higher level Finance & Budget Officers with respect to budget reviews of relevant intergovernmental and expert bodies.
  • Monitor expenditures and compares with approved budget; prepares adjustments as necessary.
  • Review requisitions for goods and services to ensure (a) correct objects of expenditure have been charged, and (b) availability of funds.
  • Assist in preparation of budget performance submissions and finalization of budget performance reports, analysing variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Monitor integrity of various financial databases.
  • Verify accuracy of input data, ensuring consistency of data in previous allotments to new allotments issued.
  • Co-ordinate with other finance and budget staff on related issues during preparation of budget reports.
  • Periodic reconciliation of accounts Prepare request to Controller’s Office on redeployment of funds and to Finance section on movement of funds
  • Record in ERP system inputs on direct disbursement and miscellaneous document
  • Process fund distribution received from HQ and input allotment advice in UMOJA

    Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Supplemental training in accounting and finance or related field is required.
  • MUST have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) or the Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices away from Headquarters.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in finance, budget, accounting, administrative services or related area.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) such as Umoja systems in finance and budget modules is required.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
