UNDP Call for Proposals in Kenya


Overview

UNDP Kenya through the Climate Promise and funding from UK’s Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) invites local communities and indigenous peoples organized through civil society organizations, community forest associations, or forest-dependent communities to submit proposals for the award of grants in innovative and transformative, informing policy and methodologies that can influence and shape NDC implementation in the forest and land-use sector.

The geographic scope of implementation of the project is in Kenya with a focus on interventions relating to Kenya’s REDD+ Strategy as follows:

  • Scaling up afforestation and reforestation and landscape restoration programs;

  • Enhancing governance and policy implementation to reduce the conversion of forests to other land uses;

  • Increase productivity of plantation forests; and

  • Enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and skills in forest-related value chains

    Eligibility of Applicants

    In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must:

  • Be a Kenyan civil society organizations and indigenous people’s organizations
    registered under the Societies Act;

  • Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project, i.e. not
    acting as an intermediary;

  • Have a bank account;

    The following types of project proposals are not eligible for funding:

  • Project proposals
    concerned only or mainly with individual sponsorships for participation in workshops, seminars, conferences, congresses;

  • Project proposals concerned only or mainly with individual scholarships for studies or training courses;

  • Credit or loan schemes;

  • Project proposals which consist exclusively or primarily of capital expenditure e.g. land, buildings, equipment, vehicles, etc.

  • Project proposals which do not demonstrate equal treatment for individuals or groups of people on grounds of their gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or lack of them, or their ethnic origin;

  • Cash donations;

  • Political parties or religious activities;

  • Project proposals that support activities that are not in line with the values of the UN
    or that provide funding for any criminal activities including but not limited to terrorism.

    How to Apply

    All Concept Notes and supporting documents must be submitted strictly on or before the deadline via email consultants.ken@undp.org

    The deadline for the submission of the proposals is on or before 16h30, 30th November 2022 Kenyan time.
