Q. I am a student in Uganda and would like to know why South Sudan gives scholarships to only postgraduates in East Africa rather than undergraduates. Please help clarify this statement, because too as South Sudanese deserve to achieve our goals.

A. I cannot tell how correct your statement is but other than South Sudan providing scholarships, there are other agencies that give such scholarship opportunities to undergraduate South Sudanese students.

Fortune seems only to be going to others, why is South Sudan assistance in education is very low?

So many counties in Africa get undergraduate scholarships many times than South Sudan. Is South Sudan being discriminated from education?

I can see some powers providing assistance to South Sudan in things to do with food, weapons and medicines leaving out education.

Please teach us how to fish but not providing us with aid throughout. We are hungry of education, give us scholarships.

Am a South Sudanese and residing in South Sudan currently. I have been monitoring and applying for these online scholarships but there is always no reply except one of the U.K {international undergraduate scholarship} when I was called and told that am outcompeted.

About these scholarships which are announced in Juba both in the T.V and radio, the positions are already occupied through corruption where people concerned send their friends' kids, their own children etc then they put it in the news just for formality.

I have lost hope in the activities happening in Juba.

I would like to know why sponsors are only intrested in sponsoring people for those above listed levels of education & yet this are people with 'papers' to get good jobs.You should know that the most volunarable gp is 'o' & 'A' leavers who are unable to join da next level bcoz of da financial constrains.Instead of sponsoring these young energetic people for good courses eg certificates in the fields of medicine,computer science,engineering,public admn,accounting,agric etc to make them acheive their future dreams with easy & reduce cases of gambling, drug abuse,theft, murder,excessive.If u check da links for sponsorships all around da world majority of them are for those above listed levels.It's like giving food for someone who is satisfied or has money to buy it for him/her self than serving da one who is hungry and has no money to buy food for him/herself.Pliz! Majority of South Sudanese were fighting for their liberation for Arabs for last twenty one years so they did not have accesses to education. That is why they are give undergraduate change in Ugandan. more so Uganda is neighboring county does not take lot of transport because some scholarship can be got from friend and will only offer change for paying college due fee and look for your transport plus other basic requirement including your personal needs. Not only that most of south Sudanese who are looking scholarship are married or couple they have family hence it is advantageous to change of communicating to family member and at the end of semester he/she will spent holiday with them.

I am South Sudanese national and I completed my secondary school studies from Democratic Republic of Congo in 2006 as Refugee and right now I am admitted for Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration at Kampala International University in Eastern Africa-Uganda. Being a self-sponsored student I got it too difficult to have made it for full time; so far I have covered one year of studies as distance learning student; it has become too difficult for me to go for my studies (face to face this coming May 2013) and probably for the rest of the year or program.
Do you have special financial AID to back up such initiatives?
I have all the relevant docs to prove that (University Admission, ID, and others)

Yes, the number of South Sudanese in acute need of undergraduate scholarship should not be under estimated. It seems the few scholarships that trickle to the grass roots already had some individuals from the majority tribe members holding it. The only answer is you have not been shortlisted especially those who studied in East Africa.
