    Internal Controls & Compliance Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of internal controls and proper accounting procedures and systems to recommend improvements where necessary to address current weaknesses and mitigate risks to mission-critical WFP operations.
    Functional Capabilities Performance Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis
  • Manages budget, business planning, and forecasting discussions on a programme-wide level, integrating financial resource information from a portfolio of projects to analyze effectiveness and
    financial viability.
  • Enterprise Risk Management Leads enterprise risk management activities across HQ and Field operations, recommending and implementing effective controls and mitigation actions to ensure WFP remains best in its class for mature and integrated enterprise risk management.
  • Performance Management Demonstrates thorough understanding of WFP’s performance management system and ability to manage resources and relationships to lead monitoring actions or deliver complex evaluations (including joint & inter-agency) of a variety of WFP programmes, processes or policies to WFP monitoring and/or evaluation quality standards.
    Programme and Operations Knowledge Leads a technical team through the development, management and monitoring of effective, innovative programme in highly complex contexts that strengthen Governments’ capacity to address hunger, are fully integrated into long-term strategies and are coherent with WFP, UN and donor policies.

    Desired Experiences for Entry Into the Role

    Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Business Management; Public Administration; Finance; Accounting; Audit; Risk Management;
  • International Development or other relevant discipline or first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training courses.

    Experience:

  • Three years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field preferably with at least one year in risk management or compliance-related functions.
  • Background and interest in international humanitarian development.

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Analytical capacity, able to take complex organizational information and transform it into meaningful summaries (trends, cross cutting issues, priorities etc.).
  • Knowledge of information management best practices, techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of software and systems for data management and analysis (high level capacity with excel and other systems).
  • Strong communications capacity, pro-active communicator, empathetic and good listening skills, facilitation or training experience desirable.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks to deliver outputs quickly and effectively under pressure.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Tactful and discrete: ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and communicate challenging information in a tactful manner that informs but does not offend.

    Languages:

  • Fluency (level C) in English language.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills are required.
