Organizational Context

This job is found in Addis Ababa Country Offices (COs), and report to a more head of the Partnerships unit.

Job holder primarily carry out day-to-day partnerships activities and research. They engage with internal stakeholders and a host of public, private sector and external entities. These can comprise governments, UN agencies, intergovernmental institutions and their member states, international financial institutions, individuals, corporations, foundations and NGOs.

Job Purpose

The role will support the Partnerships Officer and donor relations team to collect, analyze and report on information that will develop new and existing government and private sector partnerships for WFP Ethiopia.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

  • Provide dedicated executive assistant support to the donor relations team under the government partnership

  • Prepare and/or consolidate comprehensive reports, documentation, correspondence, briefing notes, etc., and conduct research related to funding opportunities for the country office.

  • Revises and reviews correspondence and documentation, providing feedback and making amendments where appropriate, to contribute to the production of these materials to time and quality standards.

  • Provide advice to programme and BPU counterparts to ensure that donor resources are used effectively. this will be inclusive of sharing forecasts and any other relevant information.

  • Assess and recommend improvements to procedures and practices, to contribute to the effective delivery of partnerships (donor relations) support services.

  • Provide a full range of complex business support services to staff to contribute to the effective functioning of business operations.

  • Coordinate tasks of junior colleagues to ensure support services are delivered consistently and to the required standards.

  • Manage updates and further develop internal records and databases, ensuring information is accurate, organized, available for others to
    access, and compliant with all relevant regulations and policies.

  • Respond to specialized queries and requests for support regarding donor compliance, using initiative and following the standard process, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all queries.

  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to provide an aligned, coherent service, and to identify opportunities to collaborate/integrate process and activities.

  • Others as required.

  • Has a basic understanding of government strategies.

  • Has developed effective relationships with partners and explored new areas to scale- up existing activities and researched new opportunities.

  • Has developed powerful narratives by using data analysis visualization to enable action-oriented discussions with partners.

  • Has prepared briefs to raise resources for operations and collaborated for timely registration, maintenance and update of contributions and forecasts.

  • Has provided advanced technical support and identified opportunities for service delivery excellence to strengthen partnerships.

  • Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment.

  • Minimum one or more years of relevant professional work experience in partnership roles.

    Standard Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications or other relevant fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

    Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in multilateral partnership roles and managing multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral, and multi-year partnerships. Has experience in Information management and communication.

    Language:

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
