UN World Food Programme Kenya - Food For Asset Intern Jobs

About WFP

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Organizational Context

The Regional Bureau for East and Central Africa, located in Nairobi, provides strategic and policy guidance as well as technical support to WFP operations and activities in nine countries: Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan, Djibouti and Uganda.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of a Food For Asset Intern based in the Programme Unit of the Regional Bureau, Nairobi. The unit is headed by a Programme Policy Officer and supported by Food Assistance for Assets Technical Specialist.

Currently there is a gap for supporting the FFA Technical Specialist through background research and studies to inform formulation and development of strategies, policy briefs and programmes in the region.

Measurement of beneficiary lives changes as a result of creation of assets; and in close collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation team, it requires continued exploration of the best ways and means to address through new approaches and techniques.

In addition, preparation of training and capacity building initiatives in the region require compilation of learning material and documentation of proceedings. More importantly record keeping and organization of FFA material both in digital and physical forms is a necessary function that enhances knowledge management.

This additional support would allow the FFA Technical Advisor to concentrate on the field support required in the region for the roll-out of the new corporate FFA guideline and the scale-up and capacity strengthening.
