Background and Purpose of the Assignment:

Rwanda is a low-income, least-developed country with a population of 12.9 million people, of whom 52 percent are women and girls and 48 percent men and boys.

In the past two decades, the Government of Rwanda has consistently and rather successfully pursued development objectives, but many challenges persist including in food and nutrition.

WFP Rwanda helps the Government enhance the national capacity to manage and innovate, but also to tackle more immediate humanitarian needs and provide a path to self-reliance, ensuring no one is left behind while facilitating national ownership.

WFP is increasingly transitioning from humanitarian action into development and humanitarian nexus efforts to create links and make greater impact.

The position is in the External Partnerships and Communication Unit. The WFP Rwanda Country Office (CO) aims to continuously enhance its partnership management, communication and advocacy to sustain support to beneficiaries, scale-up existing and implement new programmes in support of the Government’s vision for the country.

Key Accountabilities
(not all-inclusive)


  • Supporting the implementation of WFP Rwanda's Partnership Action Plan by mapping and identifying potential partners for thematic funding opportunities (e.g., school feeding, social protection, climate mitigation and adaptation)

  • Supporting the internal capacity development of fundraising activities with strategic outcome managers.

  • Implementing RWCO’s Social Media Visibility Plan.

  • Supporting the development and implementation of a Communications and Advocacy Strategy to enhance the visibility of RWCO’s activities to its partners, e.g., through the development and management of social media content and interactions, videos, presentations and factsheets.

  • Contributing to the preparation of management and partner briefs, briefings, reports and project visits; and

  • Ensuring timely and high-quality follow-up to meetings by drafting notes for the record/minutes of meetings and monitoring agreed actions.

    Other Functional Requirements (if any)

  • Supporting graphic design requirements of RWCO.

    Standard Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

  • Student or fresh graduate of economics, sociology, nutrition, public health, journalism/communication or similar.

    Experience:

    Not a mandatory requirement, but internship in similar capacities would be a plus

    Knowledge &Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Publisher, Photoshop or similar programmes

  • Proven affinity and experience with social media (active accounts, followers, voluntary experience with social media management of an NGO or similar background)

    Languages:

  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an asset.
