UN Women Finance and Programme Associate Consultant Jobs in Kenya
Responsibilities / Scope of Work
Implement financial strategies for timely delivery of HQ EVAW Programme in compliance with UN Women rules and systems.
Review and verify financial transactions and documentation; take corrective actions and report anomalies.
Monitor financial exception reports; investigate unusual activities and recommend actions.
Draft reports on financial status, procedures, exchange rates, costs and expenditures.
Follow up on audit recommendations and monitor corrective actions.
Collect, verify and present financial data for planning, budgets and work plans.
Assist in Annual Work Plan entry in PRISM.
Provide advice and recommend solutions to financial issues.
Monitor functioning of financial resources management system for programme budgets.
Implement cost‑saving and reduction strategies.
Monitor programmatic budgets for global and ESARO components; track expenditures and prepare revisions.
Prepare cost recovery documents and maintain control mechanisms for projects.
Maintain internal expenditure control system; resolve invoice errors and financial data issues.
Prepare VAT reimbursements with documentation.
Input and monitor data in QUANTUM; keep stakeholders informed.
Manage petty cash fund and cash impress level.
Prepare budget revisions, revise project awards and determine unutilized funds.
Prepare financial reports for global and ESARO components; consolidate programme reports.
Provide administrative and logistical support for programme formulation and financial management.
Support preparation of work plans, budgets and proposals.
Provide technical guidance to executing agencies on delivery and reporting.
Prepare information for audits and support implementation of recommendations.
Create requisitions and register receipts in QUANTUM; prepare non‑PO invoices.
Process consultant payments.
Support logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops and missions.
Make travel arrangements for Programme Team.
Provide guidance and training to Regional Programme Assistants and partners.
Provide administrative support to resource mobilization.
Perform other duties as required.
Consultant’s Workplace & Travel
Home‑based consultancy.
Education & Certification
Completion of secondary education required.
Specialized certification in accounting/finance an asset.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting an asset.
Successful completion of UN Women Accounting and Finance Test an asset.
Experience
Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in finance.
Experience with office software (MS Word, Excel) and web‑based management systems.
Experience with modern ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) required.
Experience with EU‑funded projects desirable.
Experience supporting programmes on ending violence against women/gender equality desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English required.
Knowledge of French and/or Spanish desirable.
