UN WFP Proposal Development Consultant Jobs in Uganda


  • The Proposal Writer will be responsible for leading the coordination of proposal development on specific identified opportunities, including leading on the drafting of text, editing of programme submissions and ensuring proposal requirements are not only adhered to but delivered on to the highest possible standard.

    Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

  • Conduct background research on relevant topics expected to be included in the specific opportunity and prepare a written summary of the key findings, including source documents and resources

  • If requested by programme teams, identify and meet with relevant civil society, government, and private sector stakeholders, taking written notes from stakeholder meetings and sharing with the proposal team

  • Draft text for proposals, including (but not limited to) risk assessments, theories of change, logframes, and proposal narratives.

  • Provide thorough copy edits for proposals and supplemental materials

  • Keep proposal development process on track by scheduling meetings and ensuring internal deadlines are met

  • Communicate with project staff to obtain information for proposals

  • Support the kick-off of successful proposals by de-briefing project teams on work plan and implementation plan development.

  • Other duties as required to support WFP Uganda to deliver upon specific opportunities

    Standard Minimum Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (masters) in Communication, Development Studies or any related programme

  • 5 years’ experience with funding applications and grant writing, with demonstrated experience writing proposals for the specific donor and/or funding stream and strong familiarity with relevant programming

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication and management skills

  • Proven ability to ensure interdisciplinary teams deliver to tight deadlines

  • Ability to work on projects involving expertise outside own functional and programmatic area and to develop ideas or solutions to complex problems that go beyond established practices

  • Excellent attention to details and ability to follow instructions

  • Proven track record of taking initiative, working independently, and coordinating dispersed teams

  • Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
