Uganda Tourism Board Marketing Officers - MICE Jobs in Uganda



Main Purpose of the Job:

To implement all sales activities and maximize business opportunities towards achieving
MICE foreign direct investment targets.

Minimum Qualifications and Certifications

  • Honour’s Bachelor’s degree in either Travel & Tourism, Marketing, B.COM (marketing) or
    BBA (marketing).

    Experience

  • Four (4) years working directly in sales, marketing or in tourism in a reputable organisation.

  • Understanding of how to analyse market trends & competition, attracting conferences or business.

  • Experience with computers, report-writing, spreadsheets and online or social media marketing.

    Job Accountabilities and Objectives (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Sales strategy Develop sales strategy against pre-determined measurable targets Bidding

  • Develop and implement a pro-active sales bidding agenda.

  • Identify potential new business leads through destination role-players (Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Embassies, academia, Associations, private sector/corporates), tradeshows and MICE industry databases such as ICCA and UIA

  • Develop and implement Customer relationship Management strategy (CRM)to support continuous leads generation

    Site Inspections/FAM trips

  • Host potential and confirmed individual MICE clients on a site inspection visit and familiarization tours to Uganda.

  • Take care of operational tasks before the tour or event such as technical program, rooming list, menus, marketing items are in sync with suppliers.

    Plan, organize and participate in events/exhibitions

  • Participate in global MICE industry trade show exhibitions together with private sector stakeholders to engage with global industry role-players, attend educational sessions, generate leads and sell Uganda to potential clients.

    Build Partnerships between public and private sector stakeholders

  • Arrange training programmes via international industry associations to build capacities of key portfolio managers within the Bureau and private sector players

  • Maintains and expands customer database. Identify potential new customers and maintain good sales relationship with existing customers

  • Responsible for developing new business opportunities and expand customer base in order to achieve sales target in a competitive environment.

  • Source and negotiate with service providers including production house, MICE agency, premiums.

  • Maintain good relationship with distributors in order to tailor-make different events for
    different market segments

    Monitoring trends and Market Intelligence of the global MICE market.

  • Subscribe to global industry associations and monitor industry trends

  • Develop and maintain database of MICE clients, planners, buyers and intermediaries Networking UCB with international MICE tourism leaders to gain insights into tourism competitiveness for increased business leads

    Key Performance Indicators

  • Sales lead generated (80 sales leads per annum)

  • 4 Bids submitted quarterly.

  • Trade fairs participated in with 15 leads generated per Fair

  • 10 fam trips organised for event organisers, SITE Members, annually

  • Database developed and maintained of MICE clients, planners, buyers and intermediaries

  • Market intelligence reports.

  • Newsletter developed and distributed quarterly.

  • Two meetings hosted per annum with DMCs (SITE members) to discuss industry challenges and opportunities, and the way forward as a team.

  • Work with Embassies to identify / invite potential clients, circulate newsletters, assist with logistics

  • Core MICE Markets identified and reviewed periodically.

  • Produce monthly risk logs.

  • Timely performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually)
