Job Title:

Internal Auditor

Reports to:

Audit & Risk Management Committee

Main Purpose of the job

To ensure adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness of risk management, internal control and governance systems within the University.

Main duties and responsibilities

To review systems and operations to assess the extent to which the University's objectives are achieved

To assess the relevance, reliability, timeliness and adequacy of management information

To appraise expenditure with regard to "value for money";

To ascertain the extent of compliance with established internal policies, plans and procedures, and significant legislative/regulatory requirements;

To review the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verifying the existence of such assets;

To recommend improvements in procedures and systems to prevent waste, extravagance and loss;

To advise on appropriate systems of internal control and other operational matters

To carrying out ad hoc appraisals, inspections, investigations, examinations or reviews in the related areas of fraud control, risk management, safety , security and any other areas of concern.

Any other official duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and experience

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in either: Finance and Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce (Accounting option).

Must have a professional qualification

in ACCA, CIMA, CIA or CPA.

A Postgraduate qualification in Business or Finance discipline will an added advantage.

Must have served for at least five (5) years working experience two (2) of which must be performing audit related tasks.

Must be a person of high integrity.

Must be a committed and mature Christian of the Anglican Faith.
