Reports to: ICT Officer

Job Purpose

Writing, coding and managing software applications and solutions to operate systems more efficiently.

Managing systems performance, providing tech support, reviewing and updating existing
programs, identifying and fixing defects, supporting data architecture, generating reports,
developing in-house software, and mitigating potential risk.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writing and testing code for new programs and computer instructions for the Board.

  • Coding, editing source-code and debugging the Board’s EMIS.

  • Automating and updating programs and software solutions.

  • Identifying and correcting coding system and programme errors.

  • Managing database systems

  • Rewriting and maintaining programs for different operating systems.

  • Implementing build systems

  • Providing technical support

  • Collaborating with other software developers in the creation of programs

  • Secure programs against cybersecurity threats.

  • Perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

    Person Specifications

    Qualifications and Working Experience

  • An honours degree in Computer Science or Computer Programming from a reputable Institution.

  • A bias in algorithm and coding languages, including C++, Java, SQL, C#, HTML and others.

  • One year experience in using Java, C++, SQL, C#, and HTML experience will be an added advantage.

  • 20-40 years of age at entry.

  • Ability to find and fix any errors in programs, systems and software

  • Comprehension of algebra concepts to apply to data and to generate reports

  • Self-driven, priority-driven, deadline-driven, multi-tasking and ability to drive
    teamwork

  • Analytical skills in creating computer
    code and attention to details.

  • Strong aptitude for both mathematics and learning new technology.

  • IT and superior communication skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
