Trocaire Business Development and Grants Manager Jobs in Kenya;The Business Development and Grants Manager (BDGM) is a member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for increasing and diversifying the funding base of Trócaire’s country programmes in line with organisational and country institutional funding strategies.

The role increases Trócaire’s profile with potential donors and leads the programme team in developing and managing well‑designed projects and programmes for submission to institutional donors.

Reports to the Country Director and directly manages a Grants and Compliance Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Country Institutional Funding Strategy Development

  • Work closely with GPFU in Head Office to achieve organisational deliverables and targets.

  • Acquire in‑depth knowledge of country strategic frameworks and programmes in Somalia.

  • Develop and annually review/update country institutional funding strategy and action plan.

  • Maintain and update donor database for Somalia programme.

  • Inform management and programme colleagues on donor strategies, priorities and calls.

    Programme Strategy, Project Design & Resource Acquisition

  • Lead development and implementation of Trócaire Somalia’s funding strategy.

  • Advise on donor funding streams aligned with priorities and programmes.

  • Identify opportunities for institutional funding from donors, embassies and trust funds.

  • Keep updated on donor policy developments and represent Trócaire in funding networks.

  • Strengthen donor contacts and support staff to build new relationships.

  • Lead and coordinate funding applications (concept notes, proposals, narrative and financial).

    Programme Management (Implementation & M&E)

  • Provide advice and support to staff and partners on donor compliance.

  • Lead grant inception, review and close‑out meetings.

  • Maintain grant and programme financial tracking systems.

  • Ensure compliance
    with financial requirements.

  • Support timely donor reporting.

  • Review contracts and inform management of responsibilities.

  • Ensure documentation is maintained on Trócaire’s MIS (Salesforce).

    Organisational Planning & Learning

  • Upload and maintain funding information on Salesforce.

  • Provide institutional funding input for organisational documents.

  • Participate fully in global funding team planning, evaluation and learning.

  • Support colleagues in specific areas of expertise.

  • Attend meetings and training as required.

  • Prepare strategy summaries, capacity statements and visibility documents.

    Human Resource Management

  • Ensure Grants and Compliance Officer understands roles and responsibilities.

  • Line manage direct reports with clear objectives and performance reviews.

  • Mentor or performance manage staff as required.

    External Relationships, Policy & Advocacy

  • Support Country Director in building donor contacts and negotiating contracts.

  • Represent Trócaire in donor and coordination meetings.

  • Coordinate donor contact with IFU at Head Office.

  • Develop briefing and promotional materials to showcase programmes.

  • Fulfill other duties as requested by the Country Director, including deputising when necessary.
