The Bishop Gassis Relief and Rescue Foundation (BGRRF) is a newly established organisation, with its Head Office initially in Nairobi, Kenya and now transitioning to South Sudan. This organisation has grown out of the pastoral services, and humanitarian and development programmes implemented through the Diocese of El Obeid (DoE) and South Sudan.

H.E Macram Max Gassis, Bishop (Emeritus) of El Obeid, set up this foundation to continue the humanitarian work in the same areas of operation as the diocese, as well as to have the ability to respond to other areas of humanitarian need, as necessary.

The Foundation (BGRRF) is implementing programmes in response to humanitarian needs in South Sudan and Sudan. In addition, the organization continues to run development, humanitarian and pastoral service activities in both Nuba Mountains and in Twic State in South Sudan.

The activities include Health, Education, Women’s Groups, Radio Station, Water and Sanitation provision and the Diocese’s Pastoral Service Programmes. To support the implementation of these programmes, BGRRF is recruiting a HMIS Officer to be based in Kauda, Nuba Mountains.

Job Title: Health Management & Information System (HMIS) Officer

Location: Kauda- South Kordofan

To support the Secretariat of Health(SoH) in development of fit for purpose Health Management & Information System (HMIS), and capacity built SoH staffs in utilization of the HMIS for decision making.


  • Identify needs/gaps in the SoH HMIS and develop a plan and strategy to address the gaps

  • Develop a new or improve
    the existing HMIS depending on the needs assessment findings

  • Capacity build of SoH management in utilization of the HMIS and interpretation of health information for decision making

  • Capacity build SoH and other health stakeholders on health information analysis and presentation

  • Capacity building of data entry clerks at SoH & the counties on data entry including use of digital data collection methods

  • Overall responsibility for analysis, interpretation and presentation of HMIS data

  • Support SoH in reviewing and updating existing health tools

  • Support SoH in reviewing and improving their filling system and support them in developing a backup system for health information

  • Work closely with SoH regional office and Health stakeholders towards regular analysis and use of health data


  • Bachelor degree or diploma holder in Health records and information sciences or

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with experience in health information management


  • Minimum three years’ experience in managing health information.

  • Experience of working with the government health systems and structures is an added advantage

    Skills and Ability

  • Strong Ms. Office skills, Data analysis and presentation skills

  • Good organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills

  • Strong report writing skills with ability to collate and analysis of information

  • Problem-solving skills, analytical skills, ability to work under pressure.

  • Good communication skills, fluent in English while Arabic language will be an added advantage
