Transport Sacco Jobs in Kenya

Our client, a medium-sized Transport Sacco in Machakos County urgently wishes to recruit suitably qualified and experienced individuals in the following position;


1. Senior Accountant
REF: SAC/UM/CCIA/16
Reports to the Sacco Manager

Job Summary: The job holder will ensure proper management of the Sacco’s financial records and ensure integrity of internal controls and Sacco accounts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the existing accounting policies formulated by the Sacco Board of Directors and in line with the Cooperative Societies Act, and International Accounting Standards.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
  • Preparation of payments to members and other Creditors
  • Preparing daily, weekly, monthly and final accounts and reports.
  • Preparing and maintaining member’s personal accounts.
  • Reconciling all remittances with ledgers and member Accounts.
  • Performing Bank Reconciliations and other Account Reconciliation.
  • Assist the Sacco Manager to implement Checks and Controls.
  • Supervising all the Society activities when the Sacco Manager is not present.
  • Tax and Statutory deductions administration.
  • Preparation of the Sacco Budget.
  • Ensures that all transactions involving the Sacco expenditure are properly authorized.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to him/her from time to time.

    Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Commerce, Business administration or accounting from a recognized university.
  • CPA (K) or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Co-operative Management will be an added advantage
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a medium to large sized Sacco Society.
  • Proficient in Computerized Accounting Systems.
  • Good communication and analytical skills with track record of ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
  • Aged between 25-35 years.

    2. Marketing Officer
    Ref: MO/UM/CCIA/16
    Reports to the Sacco Manager
    The job holder shall champion marketing and public relations initiatives of the Sacco.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and co-ordinate implementation of media and public relations plan to create awareness and a positive image for the Sacco
  • Monitor team activities, working relationship and reinforce positive attributes which foster peace and harmony at work
  • Formulate marketing strategies and plans that meet the objectives of the society’s business
  • Identify and develop new markets and plans that meet the objectives of the society business
  • Carrying out market research for find out the products and services needed by the members
  • Generating marketing promotional tools for advertising purposes
  • Spearheading the society’s marketing activities and leading the marketing team in achieving its objectives in increasing patronage
  • Preparing marketing activities and forecasts
  • Prepare monthly reports from the department
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

    Qualifications and Skills
  • A degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing Option)
    Computer literate
  • Diploma in Sales and Marketing, Cooperative Development or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience is required, preferably in marketing and business development

    3. Front Office
    Ref: FO/UM/CCIA/16
    Reports to the Sacco Manager
    The job holder shall be the first point of contact for the Sacco and will provide administrative support across the organization.


    You will handle the flow of people through the
    business and ensure that all receptionist responsibilities are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately
  • Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing all member queries with information when needed
  • Receive and sort daily mail/deliveries/couriers
  • Maintain security by following procedures and controlling office access (monitor visitor’s book, issue visitor badges, etc.)
  • Update appointment calendars and schedule meetings/appointments
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing etc.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the Offices
  • Prepare and serve tea at the appropriate times
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Any other duty assigned.

    Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum qualifications of credit in Business English, Typewriting, office management / personnel management for diploma and higher diploma or Typewriting II, Business English II, Secretarial Duties, Office Management or personnel management in single group business education in a recognized institution.
  • Possession of a professional certificate or diploma certificate in Office Administration or Business
  • Management will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum age: 25 years
  • Proven working experience in similar roles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional appearance
  • Solid communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure

    4. Cashier / Teller
    Ref: CT/UM/CCIA/16
    Reports to the Senior Accountant
    The job holder shall manage the till to pay and receive cash from member contributions for either deposits or loan repayments.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving deposits from customers.
  • Paying customers against proper documentation.
  • Updating customer accounts accurately
  • Attending promptly to customers’ enquiries.
  • Reconciliation of cash transactions on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring cheques and cash are banked and input in the system.
  • Any other duty assigned.

    Qualifications and Skills
  • CPA Part 2 (Section 4) or Diploma in a business related course
  • Computer literate
  • Minimum age: 25 years
  • Working experience: Minimum 2 years
