Introduction


Tom Mboya University College (TMUC) was gazetted on April 16th, 2016 as a
Constituent College of Maseno University (MSU). Tom Mboya University College is
named after the legendary politician Tom Joseph Mboya. The University College is
located in Homa-Bay Town, Homa Bay County, approximately 100 metres from the
shore of Lake Victoria. In pursuit of its mission and mandate, the University College
wishes to invite applications from qualified candidates to fill the positions indicated
below:

Administration

Tom Mboya University College Legal Officer/Cooperate Secretary Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert and effective legal advice to the University College.
  • Serve regularly on various standing University Committee, ad hoc working
    groups and talk forces as a legal expert to take care of all legal necessities
    in framing of policies for the institution.
  • Prepare budget estimates for the legal office for consideration and
    allocation of funds to facilitate the operation of the office.
  • Supervise and regularly monitor the contesting cases in courts for the
    institution to ensure they are run with objectivity.
  • Take custody of all legal instruments of the University College and ensure
    they are readily available for reference at all times and when necessary.
  • Provide authoritative legal advice and consultancy to the University
    College, its staff and students on a range of general issues to ensure that
    everything is done within the law and the interest of the University College is
    safeguarded at all times.
  • Support the University College administration in the development,
    application and review of the College’s regulations, policies and procedures which involve legal considerations to ensure that no human rights are violated at any time.
  • Regularly draft, update and review contracts and other legal documentation and to develop standard form legal wherever possible to ensure all clauses have no compromise.

    Qualifications

  • Must be a holder of an LLB from a recognized institution with a postgraduate
    diploma in law from Kenya School of Law.
  • Must have at least three years relevant work experience
  • Be computer literate.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Current Law Practicing Certificate
  • CPS (K)
  • Display litigation skills, research skills, legal administrative skills and must pay
    attention to details.

    Tom Mboya University College Assistant Registrar Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Assist the division in coordination of Academic Board and Deans Committee meetings;
  • Overseeing of student activities timetables, admissions, examinations,
    registration and assist in the formulation and provision of Policy guidelines on
    planning, development and management of academic programmes.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and control of activities in admissions/examinations section of the University College
  • Assist the division Coordination of semester terms and timetabling
  • Coordination and Provision of direction and policy guidelines on admission
    of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and other certificates students.
  • Coordination of the development of an academic master plan
  • Assist in Planning and coordination of students’ welfare and disciplinary
    matters
  • Assist in Development of Students Rules and Regulations
  • Assist in Policy formulation and development in the Division

    Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Education/Social Sciences from a recognized University
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
  • Nine (9) years experience in administrative work.
  • Certified Secretary III /Postgraduate diploma HR or its equivalent.
  • Must be a registered member of a recognized professional body
  • In addition all applicants must be proficient in computer applications
    packages

    Responsibilities

  • Manage Abstracting and indexing of information materials
  • Manage Acquisition of information materials
  • Ensure conformity to cataloguing and classification standards
  • Maintain user profiles
  • Provide Current Awareness Services (CAS)
  • Provide Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)
  • Prepare estimates of expenditure and vote control
  • Provide training in Information Literacy Skills.
  • Manage User Education Services
  • Manage ICT Services in the Library
  • Attend official professional meetings

    Qualifications

  • A Masters Degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of nine (9) years cumulative working experience in a well
    established and automated academic library.
  • Must be computer proficient
  • Must have hands-on knowledge on use of library management systems.
  • Must be a Member to a relevant professional Society/Association
  • A minimum of three (3) years working experience as an Assistant Librarian,
    Grade 11 in a well established and automated academic library.
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary performance in his/her duties.

    Responsibilities

  • Register student clubs, societies or organizations and supervising annual
    elections for each of them.
  • Organize community outreaches
  • Supervise and coordinate extra-curricular activities relating to clubs, societies
    and organizations.
  • Participate in orientation of new students.
  • Oversee kitchenette applications and allocation procedures.

    Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology or equivalent from a
    recognized University
  • At least nine (9) years working experience in the provision of student welfare
    services
  • Must be a member of a professional body
  • Must be computer literate

    Responsibilities

  • Software development and database administration
  • Design systems and assess the effectiveness of technology resources already in use or new systems that are being implemented.
  • installing programs and maintaining it by adding more features or amending to adapt to changing functionality
  • Determine the practicality of changes and modification of systems.
  • Work with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors, to
    arrive at the most appropriate system or integration of multiple systems.
  • Must stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and the potential effectiveness of these advancements in their current system.
  • Experience in working with ERPs in a University is an added advantage.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in computer Science/Information Technology/Electrical &
    Electronics Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Four (4) years work experience in a relevant field.
