Key Responsibilities
Welcome arriving guests warmly and create immediate sense of arrival.
Recognise and greet returning guests by name.
Learn guest preferences and personalise experiences.
Give guests a genuine farewell.
Manage reservations accurately and professionally.
Handle walk‑ins confidently while balancing reservations.
Manage waiting lists and provide realistic wait times.
Keep waiting guests informed and comfortable.
Seat guests intelligently according to floor plans, rotations and preferences.
Maintain balanced table allocation across sections.
Monitor floor and anticipate table completions.
Communicate continuously with servers, supervisors and managers.
Coordinate VIP arrivals, celebrations, large parties and special requests.
Take telephone reservations and respond to enquiries.
Maintain accurate reservation information (names, contacts, preferences).
Understand restaurants, menus, promotions and experiences.
Have basic understanding of dietary requirements.
Gather guest feedback before departure.
Identify unhappy guests early and involve manager.
Keep host station organised, clean and ready.
Ensure menus and guest materials are clean and current.
Maintain grooming and presentation standards.
What We Are Looking For
Diploma in Hotel Management or Certificate/Diploma in Food & Beverage Service.
Relevant degree an advantage.
Previous hostess/restaurant receptionist experience.
Experience in
4/5 star hotel, premium restaurant or lifestyle hotel preferred.
Excellent spoken communication and confidence with guests.
Polished and professional personal presentation.
Warm, outgoing and expressive personality.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to remember faces, names and preferences.
Confidence managing reservations, walk‑ins and busy periods.
Ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Experience with POS terminals, reservation or table management systems.
Genuine interest in food, restaurants and hospitality.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
