The Science for Africa Foundation Procurement Manager Jobs in Kenya;The Procurement Manager provides strategic and operational leadership of the procurement and inventory management function at the SFA Foundation. The role oversees procurement planning, sourcing, supplier and contract management, inventory management, cost optimisation, and supply chain risk management to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.

The position ensures value for money, compliance with policies and Code of Ethics, and adherence to fairness, transparency, efficiency, and accountability. It drives continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building, while being accountable for measurable savings and responsive procurement services aligned with the COO’s objectives.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Operational Support

  • Develop and implement procurement strategy aligned with organisational objectives

  • Coordinate annual procurement planning with Finance and departments

  • Ensure procurement decisions adhere to value‑for‑money principles

  • Provide strategic sourcing advice to executive and programme teams

    Policies, Procedures & Process Management

  • Oversee end‑to‑end procurement processes and inventory reconciliation

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policy, funder regulations, and laws

  • Develop, review, and implement procurement SOPs and workflows

  • Monitor policy adherence and support audit readiness

    Sourcing & Supply Management

  • Lead tender and sourcing processes with fairness and transparency

  • Maintain supplier database and conduct performance reviews

  • Benchmark supplier costs and develop sourcing strategies

  • Deliver measurable savings and cost avoidance in collaboration with Finance

    Contract & Compliance Oversight

  • Manage full lifecycle of procurement contracts

  • Maintain updated contract register and monitor renewals

  • Ensure requisitions have clear requirements and budget approval

    Risk Management & Controls

  • Maintain procurement risk register and implement mitigation measures

  • Apply supplier due diligence and escalate material risks promptly

  • Support audits and implement corrective actions

    Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Lead, coach, and mentor procurement team

  • Conduct staff training and performance reviews

  • Coordinate grantee procurement guidance with programme
    teams

    Systems, Filing & Reporting

  • Act as business owner of procure‑to‑pay system

  • Ensure accurate procurement records in Document Management System

  • Provide monthly dashboards and quarterly reports to COO and Board

    Asset Disposal

  • Ensure asset disposal processes align with policies and regulations

  • Provide technical guidance and report on disposal activities

    Person Specifications

    Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field

  • Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or related field (advantage)

    Professional Qualifications

  • CPSP‑K certification and valid registration with KISM, or internationally recognised qualifications (MCIPS, CPSM)

    Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ procurement experience, 5 years in managerial role

  • Strong understanding of procurement law, compliance, and ERP systems

  • Experience delivering measurable savings and managing complex contracts

  • Donor‑funded or international organisation experience desirable
