Job Description

In September 2019, Pharo School Homosha will be opening its newly completed Grade 9-12 boarding school for female students in the Benishangul-Gumuz region.

Fully funded by the Pharo Foundation, the Pharo School Homosha campus is situated on 3 hectares of land and is made up of eight buildings, (comprising of Administration, Classrooms, Library, Hall, Cafeteria, Dormitory, Store and Service) with a total area of over 6,000 M2.

Schools can only function properly if they are clean and hygienic. So, the Pharo School invite applicants to apply for the position of cleaning Supervisor to manage and control tidiness’ of the school.

Responsibility:

  • The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising the Cleaning Staff.
  • His/ her job duties include spending up to one quarter of working hours, involved in direct campus cleaning, training cleaning staff, scheduling and coordinating cleaning staff, working in coordination with other departments, in particular, kitchen staff.
  • The Cleaning Supervisor must have experience with ensuring all areas and equipment are clean, and communicating with other departments.
  • He/she may also hire or participate and train new team members.
  • The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all cleaning equipment and supplies necessary are ordered in a timely manner, properly stored and efficiently used.
  • This role requires experience in managing people.
  • He/she supervised by Human Resources Manager

    As a Cleaning Supervisor He/she will be responsible for:

  • Establishing thorough cleaning standards and procedures for cleaning staff and ensuring adherence to these standards and procedures
  • Scheduling of cleaning staff
  • Recording of all cleaning procedures in a
  • Cleaning Manual for staff to review
  • Supervising of all cleaning staff focusing on their performance and behavior
    whilst on duty
  • Ensuring that a first-class cleaning service is delivered to all areas of the campus
  • Developing and reviewing work schedules and making arrangements when staff are absent
  • Ordering of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Ensuring all staff are aware and following of the Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Maintaining and submitting weekly reports with regard to cleaning personnel, equipment, supplies and general expenses
  • Hiring and performance evaluation of cleaning staff
  • Coaching and ongoing development of cleaning staff

    Job Requirements

    Requirements - Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Diploma or First Degree in any hospitality-related field( Hotel and Tourism management, preferable).The equivalent in training and work experience will also be considered
  • Must possess excellent communication skills in speaking, writing, and listening English and Amharic
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent decision-making ability
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work as part of a team, and most importantly, lead a team
  • Clear understanding of customer service guidelines/principles
  • Must have relevant a minimum of 2 years’ experience in cleaning and supervision of cleaning procedures.

    This position may require staying overnight on the campus during the week, on occasion, and working beyond normal shift hours on occasion.

    The Cleaning Supervisor, must be willing to support the cleaning staff by spending up to one quarter of working hours, involved in direct cleaning activities.
