Team Leader. The Mitchell Group (TMG), an international development consulting firm based in Washington, DC, is currently seeking applications from qualified Team Leader candidates to propose for a Food for Peace Commodity Management Review, an activity for USAID in Ethiopia.

To note, this opportunity is in the proposal stage and will be considered for the proposal stage and successful award of the contract.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the overall implementation and leadership of a review team and ensuring that all expected tasks and deliverables are achieved on time and are of high quality.

Required Skills and Experience:

The Team Leader must have experience leading a team during field work. S/he must have experience collecting field data on at least five rigorous commodity assessments or reviews in the past five years.

Must have experience working with USAID and their assessments. They must meet the following criteria:

  • Master's or Ph.D. that included high-level coursework or professional continuing-education training in Statistics, Project Evaluation, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration or another field relevant to Commodity Review and Assessment;
  • Has participated in coordination and management of at least five commodity assessment and reviews;
  • Has excellent organization and writing skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver a quality written product (e.g., reviews and assessment reports
    and PowerPoint presentations);
  • Has excellent oral communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills; and
  • Has the technical and management skills to manage budget resources (dollars and staff) for the commodity review, as well as assist and support the team with field logistics, e.g., coordinating with USAID, implementing partners and/or a government ministry to set up initial appointments for interviews.

  • S/he will be responsible for overall management and technical oversight. The Team Leader will be responsible for organizing the review, reviewing all relevant documentation, producing a work plan, assembling and coordinating Commodity Experts and Team Assistants, planning and oversight of data collection efforts, and ensuring the timeliness and quality of deliverables.
  • S/he will be the primary point of contact between USAID and the review team and have responsibility for submission of all deliverables.
  • S/he will also oversee Commodity Management Review capacity strengthening measures and mainly responsible for coordination and collaboration with other points of contacts identified by USAID/Ethiopia.

    The team leader should be an expert in review of commodity management. Substantial humanitarian food assistance background and experience in Ethiopia are desirable.
