The Maa Trust The Bead-Work Artisan Jobs in Kenya; The Bead-work Artisan at The Maa Bead-work will be responsible for creating high-quality, culturally authentic beadwork products that reflect Maasai heritage while supporting sustainable livelihoods, preserving indigenous craftsmanship, and contributing to women's economic empowerment through artisan employment.


Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Produce bead-work items such as jewellry, home decor, and fashion accessories according to provided designs, quality standards, and production timelines.

  • Participate in the co-creation of new product designs with the product development team and give cultural input on patterns and symbolism.

  • Maintain consistency and precision in bead arrangement, stitching, color coordination, and finishing.

  • Handle bead-work tools and materials responsibly, ensuring minimal waste and proper storage.

  • Participate in artisan training sessions to improve quality, efficiency, and new techniques.

  • Uphold traditional Maasai bead-work standards while adapting to contemporary designs.

  • Collaborate with fellow artisans and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production targets.

  • Ensure products are clean, finished, and ready for quality inspection and packaging.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.

  • Adhere to workshop rules, safety protocols, and community development values.

    Qualifications,
    Experience, and Skills:


  • Bead-work knowledge will be considered

  • Reliability and respect for work deadlines.

  • Openness to innovation and product diversification.

  • Proven experience or natural skill in traditional Maasai bead-work.

  • Familiarity with various types of bead materials, stitching methods, and color symbolism.

  • Ability to replicate designs with high accuracy and consistency.

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and participate in training sessions.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
